Our Story
Allen Cattle Company was founded in 1995 when Harold Allen and grandson Michael Allen partnered and purchased their first cattle from the 3G Land and Cattle dispersal. The “649”, and “674” cow families originated from two open heifers purchased on that day in September 1995. Since then, those cow families have grown exponentially and produced countless champions and have had a genetic impact on both commercial and seedstock herds alike.
Located on the western edge of the Piney Woods in beautiful East Texas the Allens have been blessed to raise a quality herd of Brangus cattle as well as a wonderful family on the same ground that has been in the family since the early 1900’s. Currently the herd is comprised of a group of commercial Brangus cows that are used as recipients in our ET program and a group of registered Brangus seedstock cattle. The implementation of artificial insemination and embryo transfer has been an essential component in growing the herd with planned mating. The goal has always been to focus on the cows and produce practical cattle that will thrive with little input. The herd- sires used within the herd for natural service are also AI sires themselves. Using quality genetics is paramount and has allowed for success in the commercial and seedstock markets as well as in the showring.
Michael and Jennifer along with their twin daughters Cleavie and Katherine are passionate about Brangus cattle and living the lifestyle as cattle ranchers in the twenty-first century. Changes in technology over the last 20 years have allowed the opportunity for all ranchers regardless of size of operation have a presence in the industry, and an opportunity to tell their unique story. Allen Cattle has utilized social media extensively to promote the herd and establish a following through advertising online sales, results from recent shows, and the random interesting situations experienced in everyday ranch life.
